| The Benefits of Dhanakosa |

I've been visiting Dhanakosa since 1996 and feel like it is my spiritual home, a place where I have always found peace and a kind of tranquility. People there have given me so much in terms of support and guidance. Without Dhanakosa, I wouldn't be the person I am now. I am a trustee because I want to give something back to a place that has meant so much to me and, I know, to many, many other people.

I didn't know what to expect at Dhanakosa, so I decided to go with the flow. The scenery was breathtaking and Dhanakosa awakened my senses, filling me with an inner peace that nourished my mind, body, soul and, of course, belly. The scones were delicious, as was all the food. My retreat was an amazing experience I will always cherish and I couldn't have had a better bunch of people to share it with. Thank you.

A wonderful setting for meditation. It was great to feel part of nature again.

That Dhanakosa run their retreats on a dana basis really inspires me. It is such a radical and bold approach to take - an act of faith and trust in human nature and peoples' desire to be generous. The community at Dhanakosa work with such dedication and vision to go on making Dhanakosa an alive, vibrant place where anyone can come and learn to meditate and hear the teachings of the dharma. It is such a fantasitc resourse to have this beautiful place to come to for a retreat - imagine how much poorer we would all be without Dhanakosa!

Dhanakosa is an anchor to a place my heart knows as home. It offers rich restoration in an open and loving shared space; time in which to remember, restore and reclaim your heart's message.

The community at Dhanakosa are a practical demonstration of how giving metta not only helps the recipient but also produces spiritual energy within the giver. I have been a fortunate receiver of Dhanakosa's warm, creative, communal retreats and expert tuition and practice for 10 years.

One cold, wet November day I saw a wee bunch of red berries "looking" in the lounge window. I felt so fortunate to have discovered Dhanakosa; I was inside wrapped up in Dk's caring warmth. Helping Dhanakosa to prosper is an act of joyful gratitude.

Dhanakosa is very much our spiritual home. We were able to bring our whole family to this special home, to practice in an inspiring setting, free from the everyday distractions and stresses of life. We very much appreciate the memories it has given us – mindfully engaged in skimming stones on the loch was a definite favourite!
The children thoroughly enjoyed the Family Retreat and the whole experience of the spiritual commune at Dhanakosa - they both want to come back next year.
Isabel (age 9) said, “the time spent on the retreat made me realise how special my family is”.
Tam (age 5) thought, “ it was a great place to meet new friends,” - and he certainly did that!

I believe Dhanakosa is worth supporting. It upholds the values of honesty, sharing, considerate decency, kindness, mindfulness, appreciation of the good, the true, the beautiful. It does so, not by getting folk to argue about values, but by simply putting them into practice. Try them out for a week, experience the effects first-hand.

For me, Dhanakosa was the perfect escape from city life. The atmosphere around the place is supremely peaceful, the scenery is beautiful, the food was first rate and the people were fantastic! My first retreat helped me bring some relaxation back into my hectic 21st century schedule. The whole experience was so great I couldn't wait to come back.

I have savoured the rugged beauty of Loch Voil and the tranquility that is Dhanakosa for many years, using both solitary huts and attending numerous meditation retreats. Dhanakosa remains a beautiful place to embrace Buddha, Dharma and Sangha: bolstering my commitment to practice.
