Title
august half-day retreat Pre-occupation, liberation, appreciation
Wednesday 4th August 2021: 10.15 - 13.00 (GMT)
Our half-day online retreat on Wednesday 4th August is for anyone in contact with Dhanakosa. This will be a rerun of the successful retreat I led in July for folk in the local area. Its title describes a way to free your mind from compulsive thinking and settle back into a spacious wise appreciation. In these troubled times, uncertainty and anxiety can drive us into obsessively worrying, our minds habitually caught up and pre-occupied. This worry can occupy all the mental space and we find our whole mind pre-occupied with no room left for empathy, appreciation, even enjoyment. Through mindfulness training we can drop down from head-work into bodywork, returning at last to a grounded spacious awareness.
On the retreat, after leading a guided meditation, I’ll address the theme in a short talk then provide time for you to share your thoughts and feelings with two or three others. Finally there’ll be a Q&A session to answer any questions you may have.
If you can precede the online period by scheduling your own meditation and follow it with a contemplative walk in Nature, you’ll be making the most of the day. Join us at 10.15. Then we lock the meeting at 10.30 (to avoid the disruption of latecomers) and stay online right through to 1pm. As well as the meditation period there will be hourly breaks built in to refresh your energy. This is a chance to come together in shared practice once more.
This retreat will be running online using the zoom meeting platform. This works in most web browsers, and you can also get free apps for all major mobile platforms too. You don’t need to pay for an account to take part.
Bookings will close at 4pm on Tuesday 3rd August.
