Volunteering at Dhanakosa

We would like to hear from people who have been to Dhanakosa, or are involved in Triratna in their local centre or retreat centre, and who are interested in helping out as volunteers alongside members of the retreat centre team in the following roles:

Cooks

Come and spend a week working with our resident kitchen manager and learn the ropes of the Dhanakosa kitchen. At that point you would join our group of volunteer cooks, who cook for our on-going retreat programme, a week or weekend at a time, usually committing to 1-2 weeks a year.

Work retreats

We usually run two work retreats a year, spring/summer and winter. We are looking for people with practical/DIY skills and the willingness to help out with a range of tasks from painting and decorating to small building projects and groundswork.

Gardening

If you live locally to Dhanakosa and have some experience of basic gardening then we'd love your regular help in the garden (1 or 2 days a month, May-Sept). You need to be able to get to Dhanakosa for the day as we don't usually have enough accommodation for overnight stays.

Building/maintenance projects

If you are practically minded and enjoy physical work, or if you have trade skills, we periodically require additional help with specific projects throughout the year. Get in touch to share your skills and find out more.

Long term volunteers

Long term volunteers usually stay with the community for a month or more and help with a range of tasks supporting the retreats, including cleaning, cooking and other practical work and sometimes working on specific projects depending on their skillset. We do not currently have any vacancies for long term volunteers, however we welcome expressions of interest at any time, particularly from GFR Mitras and Order members.
