Ratnadeva

Ratnadeva has been working full-time with Buddhafield since 2009, mainly on the retreats side of the programme. He lives in a small community of Triratna Order members in mid-Devon. He moved to Devon after living in the men’s community above the Nottingham Buddhist Centre for five years, while working at the British Geological Survey as a contaminant hydrogeologist. He was ordained into the Trirata Order in 2013.

Ratnadeva has a long standing passion for engagement with the natural world and the cycle of the seasons through myth and ritual. This has led him to explore the complementarity of Dharma and the pagan Druidic tradition. He is mad for walking pilgrimage. He accepts all challenges on the chess board.

Hillwalking and Meditation

Friday, 9 July 2021 to Friday, 16 July 2021 2021

Going Deeper retreats are an ideal first regulars retreat. They are suitable for anyone who has already done an introductory retreat or, who has been attending their local Triratna centre and wants to take things deeper. Going Deeper – with Hillwalking takes the established successful Hillwalking retreat format and by intensifying the practice enables us to connect more deeply with our experience both in the shrine room and in nature.

facing the demons - dharma for troubled times

Friday, 26 April 2019 to Friday, 3 May 2019 2019

In his 1979 talk on Padmasambhava, Sangharakshita said "we mustn't think of 'demons' as mythological.... You're living in a world of demons": economic; social; political. In our troubled, complex world it is hard to recognise and face these 'demons'.  This retreat will explore some of the demons of our age and time, both inner and outer. Through meditation, ritual, talks and group work we hope to face and transform them, going forward with renewed energy, strength and inspiration.
